Moreover, the National Institute on Aging states that individuals age 65 or older are more likely to suffer from a heart attack, a stroke or develop heart disease and heart failure. We can take care of our heart health by getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods and exercising daily.
A good night’s rest regulates your metabolism, hormones and energy levels. The American Heart Association recommends seven to nine hours of sleep every night. Proper sleep affects your overall health.
Eat foods that are high in nutrients and low in saturated fats. According to Penn Medicine, your risk of heart disease may decrease if you consume foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids: salmon, chia seeds, walnuts, etc.
Aim for 30 minutes of daily movement. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute reminds us that physical activity can reduce your risk of coronary heart disease and heart attacks.
